Protein, protein, protein. The lifeblood, the muscle-maker, the “why-does-this-taste-so-grainy” powder. As I discussed in a previous blog, it took me a long time to get on the protein train. Not the eating meat, beans, and other natural sources of protein train but the protein bars and especially the protein powder train. Being a female and only recently discovering the awesome effects of heavy lifting and eating more protein, I am late to the protein powder party. My first experience with protein powder left A LOT to be desired- grainy, chunks here and there, and really not appetizing. I tried to imagine myself choking this stuff down every morning or evening after the gym. Not gonna happen. THEN, we discovered (through trial and error) the proteins that we love- I wrote about them in this blog post.
The protein that I am going to focus on today is delicious. And I am not exaggerating or lying to you folks. When prepared properly, it tastes exactly like a healthier version of a cookies and cream milkshake. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! I know, I know from grainy protein powder to this! Spencer and I have been buying this protein powder for about a year now, and we love the way it tastes when we make a protein shake with it! You can buy some here!
Here’s what we do:
Cookies and Cream Blended Protein Shake
1 scoop of Dymatize Nutrition Elite Whey Shake, Cookies and Cream
1 cup milk
8 ice cubes (we use the ones that come out of our fridge that look like half of a 3D oval)
1. Put the ice into the blender or single serving blender cup.
2. Put the protein powder in over the ice in the blender/blender cup.
3. Pour the milk over the protein powder and ice.
4. Blend in the blender until all ingredients are combined and it is the consistency of a milkshake.
5. Drink up (as soon after your workout as you can to get those muscles growin’)
Let me know what you think of our blended protein shake recipe!
